Having lived in older properties most of her life, Angela Attwood was not expecting to like the new development in the historic market town of Coggeshall in Essex. However, on first viewing, Angela was blown away by the high standards and immediately fell in love with it.
Having lived in Coggeshall since 2007, Angela was very keen to stay in the area after her separation from her husband and selling the family house. Although Angela had previously bought properties to renovate, she didn’t want that same commitment.
“It is unusual for something new to become available in Coggeshall” explains Angela. “Before viewing Coggeshall West, I wasn’t really expecting to like it. But as soon as I walked in, the high specification, lovely aspect and feel to the house meant I just knew it would be right.”
Angela, a registered nutritional therapist and health coach, bought a four-bedroom link detached house, which she has recently moved in to with her two grown children. Combining contemporary design, smart technology and sensitive architecture to its surroundings, Coggeshall West is a boutique development of three- four- and five-bedroom houses built by multi-award winning and local housebuilder, Higgins Homes.
“It definitely feels that Higgins Homes has considered everything about this development and how each house has been built,” explains Angela. “The homes feel very spacious and the development itself has been thoughtfully planned. Parking can be really tricky in Coggeshall, so to have plenty of parking included is great. It’s difficult to find a house that fits the bill with everything that you want but with a good size garden, the perfect location and the high standard of fixtures and fittings, Coggeshall West certainly ticks many boxes.”
Coggeshall is a picturesque and historic market town in Essex, eight miles to the east of Braintree. “I like the fact that it is a town but actually feels like a village with lots of open space,” says Angela. “I have two dogs and there are lots of lovely places to take them including river walks. Although it definitely has a countryside feel, there is plenty going on for all age groups and it is really well connected and accessibility to both London and Stansted is very good.”
For commuters, nearby Kelvedon Station offers a train journey into Colchester in just 19 minutes and Chelmsford in 16 minutes. There are also regular bus services to Colchester, Braintree and other nearby towns and villages and the A120 offers easy access to Colchester and Braintree.
The train takes you into London Liverpool Street in only 48 minutes and the A12 provides a direct link right to the centre of London and out to the coast of East Anglia. Stansted is the nearest airport, less than half an hour by car.
Angela’s change in personal circumstances created a need to relook at the type of home that she would move to as she explains: “Having a low maintenance house with NHBC warranty and the two year guarantee with Higgins Homes is also very reassuring.”
It was also very important to Angela that the move was as stress-free as possible. “I found dealing with Higgins Homes really easy and it was a good experience overall,” explains Angela. “Of course, there were a few moments of worry, such as when we lost our first buyers. But I really appreciated the fact that Higgins Homes were very transparent and kept me updated the whole time. Everyone has been supportive and helpful and just about everything has been considered, even a tour of the house with the site manager, prior to moving in, which makes the experience enjoyable.”
Although it has only been a couple of weeks since Angela moved in, she is excited about this new chapter of her life as she adds: “I’m really looking forward to getting to know my neighbours and although the house is lovely as it is, I’m looking forward to making it our home. More than anything, there is something about the house that is calming and relaxing so I’m just really looking forward to enjoying living here.”
